History

During the Obama 2012 Re-Election campaign season, an ad hoc group of volunteers had been meeting at Arthur and Sue’s home on weekends for phone banking and to strategize canvasing opportunities. At times there were up to 15 people making phone calls to encourage voters on a Saturday afternoon to vote "Blue". During one weekend the group made over 700 calls!  On occasion there would be 45 to 50 people gathering at Arthur’s and Sue’s home, all with one purpose. to help elect Democrats.

The idea for the Trinity Democratic Club started at the end of the successful Obama 2012 Re-Election Campaign when all the volunteers wanted to stick together.

Word started to get around that John was part of a team forming a new Democratic Club in Trinity.  Rich had been involved with the West Pasco Democratic Club even though he lived in Trinity when he heard that the Trinity Democratic Club was in a “formation stage”.  Rich reached out to John and attended the organizational meeting at Arthur’s and Sue’s house.

At that organizational meeting, the officers and board members were elected.  John as President, Carol as Vice President, Ken as Treasurer, Linda as Secretary, Arthur as Parliamentarian and Rich became a Board Member.

The newly formed Trinity Democratic Club continued to meet at Arthur’s and Sue’s house for the next several months.  As attendance grew, a larger location was needed.  Eventually, the monthly meetings moved to the Meeting Room at Fox Hollow Golf & Country Club in Trinity.

Attendance exploded after the 2014 Midterm Elections and the Trinity Democratic Club moved into Fox Hollow Golf & Country Clubs’ Ballroom. Our attendance continued to grow and after the 2016 elections we outgrew this venue and we moved to a larger venue at Heritage Springs Golf and Country Club. The political landscape continued to polarize and with more extreme Republican policies and actions, our democratic club and those across the nation continued to grow. Now 13 years later the Trinity Democratic Club continues to be the largest democratic club in Pasco County.
